Fellowship

Community Life

We are a community of communities, and we gather together not only for worship, learning, and service, but also to share common interests, to make friends, and to strengthen the bonds of fellowship among us. For opportunities to study, learn, and serve, visit our Grow section; for opportunities to make friends and hang out, look below!

Book Club
We meet once a month (usually the 4th Tuesday) at 10:00am in the Parish Hall St. Stephen’s.  Contact Liz Kingsley with questions, the book calendar and meeting dates.

Dad’s, Let’s get together!
We know everyone is busy, so you can drop in and drop out as your schedule allows. We will meet the second Wed. of the month from 7-8:30pm, the program is ½ social (ballgames, BBQ & Poker nights, etc.) and ½ Christian study about being a Dad. This is a low key, welcoming group. In this group, there are no right or wrong answers, we simple exchange insights and build relationships.

Faith in Action: Caring for Creation
World leaders took a huge step toward mitigating climate change at the recent Paris. Of the many attendees was Rev. Canon Sally Bingham, our diocesan Canon for the Environment, who presented a list of 4,5000 congregations and individuals from across the U.S. who took The Paris Pledge pledging to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

The focus of the Caring for Creation group is to actively support the goals outlined in the Covenant of California Interfaith Power & Light (CIPL) of which St. Stephen’s is a member. Upon joining CIPL, St. Stephen’s pledged to pursue one or more of the following goals:

  1. Educate our congregation on energy production and usage in relation to global warming by offering weekly tips in our Sunday bulletin, articles in our monthly newsletter, and sponsoring speaking events.
  2. Conduct an energy audit of our buildings to identify sources of energy waste and the potential financial savings of energy related improvements.
  3. Make energy efficiency improvements in our congregation’s buildings.
  4. Utilize renewable energy by purchasing green power, installing solar panels, or contributing to a wind turbine fund.
  5. Analyze, reduce, and offset our greenhouse gas emissions with the goal of becoming a non-polluting congregation.
  6. Support public policies that contribute to our goals.

Garden Club
All are welcome to come and help keep the gardens of St. Stephen’s beautiful.  We come together on the Second Tuesday of the month from 9-11am.  We do a little work and have a lot of fun!  Ann Lawrence: 299-2608

Men’s Conversation
The men meet one Saturday morning each month. This is an informal group that will meet over coffee, from 8-9:30 a.m., to talk about issues of the day, the spiritual life, etc.  Check the Sunday Paper or the Church Calendar for the meeting dates.

Night Readers
We meet 4 Mondays a year.  Questions or to receive the Night Readers book list and meeting schedule, email contact Susie White

SALT (Seniors Always Loving Today)
We have introduced a new and different SALT program. Monthly meetings will center around a brown bag lunch and conversation: conversation that includes sharing our lives, memories, joys and challenges; conversation which fosters community and a sense of belonging; conversation which mines the depths of people’s experience and wisdom. I hope you will join us on the third Wednesday of each month, from 11:30 – 1 PM in the Parish Hall. Bring your lunch and come prepared to cultivate a strong sense of Christian community based on shared needs and experience.
Hope to see you there, Rev. Jane  or 254-3770 x15
